Just some information about some skills/spells in this next Trip Trap project I'm concepting up, with small grabs of animated effects n stuff. Pretty self explanatory, but yeah.

Wow I remember this!
It's more interesting to watch now since I want to get into video games (character design or concept artist) and I like things such as these were they show skills.

The animation and effects were all completed in 3d Studio Max, using 'additive' materials (it kinda behaves like an overlay of colour/brightness in photoshop) and for the glows, its volumetric light.

Its those two principles completed over and over, to pretty much all the effects in this animation :)

Hmm... relatively speaking, not as much as other parts of the project. Each effect took about 10-30 hours to set up? (animating and making the textures, etc... with the larger spells/effects taking a while longer :))

Yes :) The effects are pretty basic, and if you're familiar with the concept of physics, it helps speed up and trial and error processes.
