Just popping up a notification that I'm no longer open for taking any more commissions this round. Slots are taken up**, and also my plate's gonna start getting full again.
I also want to emphasise that I'm going to place an expiry date on commissions that are pending/awaiting reply. I'm not keen on leaving a commission spot kinda lingering for too long if I can help it, especially if they haven't technically been started.
----
EDIT#2: Final slot taken. Commissions are now closed this round.
EDIT: ** Due to a minor miscommunication one slot has become available again. I'll give this until the end of this week (8th Nov) before I'm officially closed. [link] for details.

So to those who have any commission slots with me, there'll be about 1-2 months from now (basically till the end of the year or so) before your commission slot will be considered expired. If you get back to me before then with commission details and what you want, I'll let you know if/when I can get around to it.
It might seem a little upfront or whatnot, but I'd prefer to know that when I'm closing, I'm actually going to close commissions and not have clients come to me months later and decide its time to have me do the commission spot they reserved ages ago.
And also, it also makes things a little more fair for others in future commission rounds in that I'll be opening with clean and empty lists/spots. And yes even if yours expires you can grab another commission next round.
Nevertheless, thanks a lot to those who've shown interest and also bought commissions from me so far. Also thanks to *carnival for giving me a plug on her journal
In other news, indeed I'm gettin real busy again, to a point where even my own projects are on hold
Nevertheless, doing well. Hope you're all well too.
Take care, be safe

And yeah, payment up front kinda works as the bond to have the client keep contact, so you cover yourself if ever the case comes and communication just fades and the commission stagnate for whatever reason.
At the moment I've got some ppl who've just not replied after the initial "I'm interested", and so instead of me really chasing them up I concluded its less intrusive to just slap an expiry on ones that can't get started. I suppose its originated from the whole retail thing - "I'll look down the road", and they never come back. "But our items (commissions) will still be here next year/time."
So just like food, they can choose to eat it before it goes off, I suppose.

I suppose it might explain why some artists ask for payment even before the sketch
